Top 5 Regrets of the Dying

1.  I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.  Many dreams go unfulfilled.  Choices get ignored.  People lose themselves in life.

2.  I wish I had not worked so hard.  Work becomes compulsive for many people.  Many people do not see how hard they worked and all that they missed out on until it is too late.

3.  I wish I had the courage to express my feelings.  Many suppress feelings in the name of “keeping the peace”.  At extremes, this can lead to bitterness, resentment and illness.

4.  I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.  Many get so caught up in their lives that they lose old friends.  We often do not fully realize the full benefits of friendship.  We get stuck in thinking that family is all we need.

5.  I wish that I had let myself be happier. Many people often do not realize until later in life that happiness is a choice.  Maintaining homeostasis due to fear of change, being stuck in old patterns, and valuing “comfort” all contribute to blocking someone from finding true happiness in life.
